Contrary to what Speaker Pelosi and President Obama claim, physicians do not support the health care legislation being voted on today in the House. The AMA’s support for the House health bill has drawn sharp criticism from many of its state chapters and runs counter to the 20 other physician groups that have come out AGAINST this proposal. And it’s no wonder they oppose legislation that does nothing to fix the medical malpractice frenzy and goes a long way toward taking away the civil rights of ALL doctors.
If there’s any doubt about what H.R. 3692 will do, we’ve provided the following citations to the House bill that will make doctors a federally penalized profession.
p.217 –physicians who participate in Medicare have no choice but to participate in the new public plan for at least one year
p.482 – physicians must disclose to government ownership in any surgical hospital or surgery center or other ancillary care facility
p.486 – if a hospital has a physician as even a tiny fractional owner (even 0.001%), that hospital is effectively banned from ever expanding, including adding procedure rooms, hospital beds, or operating rooms
p.493—if the facility wants to apply for an expansion waiver, every owner must participate in all government health care plans – Medicare, Medicaid, public option
p.487 – the private hospital may not be involved in guaranteeing any business loan – it must all be personal guarantees from the physicians
p.488 – physician owners of hospitals are banned from owning the land the hospital sits on
p.488 – physician owners of private hospitals are limited in their ability to lease office space near the hospital, regardless of who owns the building
p.894 – physicians must notify the government of any ownership in any health care related facility if they take any federal dollars
p.913 – physicians private ownership will be disclosed to the public on the internet
p.982 – physicians will only be able to order durable medical equipment (oxygen, walker, wheelchair, for example) for Medicare patients if the physician is a Medicare provider
p.1004 –The federal government will have unlimited access to all physicians personal financial and business information without a subpoena. The federal government has the right to interview any current or former employee for any reason to search for ‘evidence’ of fraud and abuse.
No group has been persecuted like this in America simply because of the PROFESSION they have chosen.
Physicians who continue to work – and likely even those who have accepted federal government dollars in the past, will overnight lose all of their rights.
This is not a right, left, Republican, Democrat issue. This is about preventing government from violating every expectation of privacy. And patients will be losers here as well, as their personal health information and health care will be the bludgeon with which the rights of fellow Americans are smashed.
Whether you support the Democrats reforms generally or not, these provisions MUST BE REMOVED!
Call every radio station and TV station demanding that this story be covered immediately!
It is a shame the government thinks it has to invade every aspect of our lives and
now they want Physicians under there thumb. SHAME on anyone who supports this bill.
Sincerly

Hopefully real health reform will come out of this debacle. The cost of health care is skyrocketing. Most Americans understand that Pelosi is out of her mind thinking that Americans want this government intrusive bill that actually violates the Constitution of the United States. As Ronald Reagan said that health care would be the avenue to impose socialist laws and in my own opinion communist regimes that are always accompanied with tyranny. This current administration is fully aware of this prospect and are simply power hungry. They will stop at nothing to get this so called health care debacle passed.
Fortunatly not all democrats are of the democrat / communists and know what this will mean for our future generations. I have full confidence that this intrusive bill will die in the House.
Let’s keep up our prayers as I believe that the Lord is listening and concerned.
LINDER V. UNITED STATES, 268 U. S. 5 (1925) (9-0)
“Obviously, direct control of medical practice in the states is beyond the power of the federal government.” Even “Incidental regulation of such practice by Congress through a taxing act cannot extend to matters plainly inappropriate and unnecessary to reasonable enforcement of a revenue measure.”
Nothing but narrow, self-serving whining here. People used to go into medicine for the right reasons, now it’s all about trying to get rich. Doctors should be publicly shamed for refusing to accept Medicare. If you wanted to be a rich a-hole, you should have gotten an MBA not an MD.
